About

About Me

Violet Estates LLC is named for my grandmother, Viola (Warren) Cary. It is a tribute to her and a legacy for my family. For me, Portsmouth is the place I was born, and where I got to be spoiled by my grandparents. I didn't always live in Virginia, but I did attend and graduated from I.C. Norcom High School. Students from I.C. Norcom High School staged sit-insduring the 1960s to benefit the cause of desegregation and many alumni have gone on to become local, state, and national political leaders.

I went on to graduate with a B.S. in Computer Science from North Carolina A&T StateUniversity, known for "The A&T Four". On February 1st, 1960 in Greensboro, North Carolina, four A&T freshmen students, Ezell Blair, Jr. (Jibreel Khazan), Franklin McCain, Joseph McNeil & David Richmond walked downtown and “sat - in” at the whites–only lunch counter at Woolworth’s. They refused to leave when denied service and stayed until the store closed.

In my career I learned a lot while supporting government contracts, and now I leverage these skills to now support my goals and values. I want to continue the advancement of economic equality like those who came before me.
